FAQ

What is PillowBonnet?

  • PillowBonnet is a portable silk pillow covering made from 22 momme mulberry silk that travels with you. It can replace your hair bonnet or complement it. Whether you’re sleeping at home or away, your hair and skin will love it!

Why Mulberry Silk?

  • Mulberry Silk is made with durable and uniform fibers and is considered the highest quality silk on the market. It is produced by silkworms which feed on the leaves of the mulberry tree.
  • When you sleep on Mulberry Silk, you continue an ancient tradition that was discovered in 2640 BC by the wife of a Chinese emperor. It is believed that when having tea underneath a mulberry tree, a small silkworm cocoon fell into the cup and began to unravel, revealing a long delicate thread. When you are sleeping on a Kaleidoscope Sun PillowBonnet, you are continuing a 12,000+ year tradition!

What is Momme?

  • Momme is a Japanese form of weight measurement. Pronounced “moe-mie” and abbreviated as “mm,” momme expresses weight (in pounds). Kaleidoscope Sun uses 22 momme to produce the perfect blend of luxury, comfort and durability.

How to care for your PillowBonnet

Silk is also ideal for low impact dye production, which reduces the environmental impact of fabric coloring.

            Natural Ingredients

            • Silk is made up ofjust two natural proteins: fibroin and sericin. It is one of the world’s most natural products, especially when compared to the endless list of products manufactured from synthetic chemicals.

            Biodegradable

            • Mulberry silk is a strong and highly durable fabric, especially when treated with respect and care. It is also a natural fiber that is a readily biodegradable after serving its useful life. You can use it in the production of compost or mulch instead of disposing of it in the garbage, like you might do with petroleum-based fabrics.
